Hong Kong Roast Food Express

Hong Kong Roast Food Express
22 Jupiter St. Cor. Galaxy, Makati City
7467 Bagtikan St., Makati City

There’s a new Chinese restaurant in town…literally in ikya’s village! It’s called Hong Kong Roast (HKR) Food Express. Her mom discovered the place and introduced it to us one Sunday afternoon. We loved it! They have two branches now, one in San Antonio Village and the other in Jupiter Street. Whichever branch you go to, your tummy will surely be satisfied!

Here is what we ate so far. Give us a few weeks and we’ll finish the whole menu!

 Shallot Rice

Winter Mapo Tofu -- steady taste.

Spareribs -- Chuck murdered this one because it was so good

Siomai

Corned Pork with Fried Egg -surprisingly good! There are more pork inside.

Birthday Noodles -- Ikya's brother loves this!

Black Chicken -- meat felt weird, but it was good. First time we tried one.

Honey Glazed Fried Chicken -- sauce was good, but the chicken was dry...soo booo!

Roast platter! - totally worth it!

Just another roast platter. yummehh.

Fried Mantou with condensed milk -- ikya's favorite! she can eat two in one sitting!! Served warm and fresh!

Milo! Love the first part when you scoop the milo powder!

Verdict:
- This restaurant is our definition of one that serves the ultimate comfort food!
- Price is very reasonable
- HAPPY TUMMY!
- Must try restaurant for all Chinese food lovers!

CnT Lechon

CnT Lechon
1377 Rama Ave, Guadalupe, Cebu City
V. Rama Avenue, Guadalupe

Our favorite lechon in Cebu! I don't know about others, but for us, this beats Zubuchon! The skin is crispy and the meat stays true to Cebuano's claim that their lechon doesn't require any sauce! It's better to eat as is!

Here is our before and after lunch at CnT.

Before. I think we ordered 1/2 kilo of lechon. :))

After eating. Happy tummies!!!

You have to try CnT lechon when you go to cebu, It's a must! Your Cebu trip won't be complete without having a meal here! Best to go here and have early lunch so you get to try the best parts with less people!

Verdict:
- Best lechon we've ever tasted!

Toast Box

Toast Box
Rizal Avenue, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig
Mon-Thurs: 8:00am - 1:00am
Fri: 7:00am - 12:00am
Sat-Sun: 9:00am - 9:00pm

Toast Box is a Singaporean-Malaysian inspired restaurant. It's really cute and clean inside.

Food is good but expensive.

Here is what we ate...and drank!
 Our favorite!!! MILO DRINK!!!!

Milk tea - it's good as well. Legit kind

Of course we had to try their toast. Really yum. Could use more crispiness. Great with egg!

Just ikya and her clumsy self.

Forgot what it's called but we're not really a fan.

 Normal chicken meal.

Loved the rice!

Verdict:
- Yum food but expensive.
- Will definitely go back for their milo and milk tea drinks!!! :)

Wild Ginger

Wild Ginger
Power Plant Mall, Rockwell Center Hidalgo cor. Estrella St.

It was a normal Sunday. Normal in the sense that the question, "Where do we eat?" popped up. We rarely eat at home on Sundays. I was tired of going to Cash and Carry to eat, so I suggested going to Rockwell and look for food there. What I didn't account for is the crowd of people who's there to look for lunch as well. We looked for the place with least amount of diners but seemed to serve good food. Yup it took some walking around and snooping at other peoples food but it was worth it. We found Wild Ginger.

Here is what we ate.

Roti Prata with Curry Dipping Sauce - ikya's favorite

Asian Crispy Pork - Asian-style lechon kawali, served with soy-chilli dipping

Tofu Salad with Peanut Sauce - ikya thought she wouldn't like it because of the peanuts, but she finished it. haha

 Crispy Tawilis - yummy!

Pad Thai - do note that ikya's brother had a serving already before we took this picture.

Beef Rendang - best dish we tasted!

Topped the lunch with dessert!

Verdict:
- Good food. It goes unnoticed because of the colors of the restaurant.Too plain against the strong colors of restos next to it.
- Our suggestion if your looking for something different to eat.

Wingkings

Wingkings
Bonifacio Global City - Shell Stop Over fronting Ford Global City and Mercedes Benz Fort adjacent to St. Luke’s

I have my usual cravings for wings. When I was in taft, it was easy because Flamings Wings was just a few steps away. When Manang's came in Mercato, I just had to wake up early during weekends so there's not much people lining up. When Wingman came in The Collective, I can wake up in the middle of the night, ride a tricycle and have myself a dozen of wings. But what if I was in the office and I had the craving?

One lunch time, an officemate mentioned that he wanted to try Wingkings. I said let's go instantly! I couldn't believe there was a wings place near my office! And I was right. It isn't near when you walk it! Here they are. They come in different flavors and dips.

You can order a meal. chicken and rice.
Or a wings set. Just more chicken with no rice.

They have potato wedges as well as other sidings.

Verdict:
- A bit expensive for lunch during office hours (imagine doing this everyday. bankrupt!)
- Wings are decent. But it doesn't beat Manangs or Flaming Wings for us.

Xtremely Xpresso Cafe

Xtremely Xpresso Cafe
#1 Dewey Avenue cor. Sta Rita Street, Subic Bay Freeport Zone
Open Daily from 6 A.M till 12 M.N.

Subic for us has been like Tagaytay of the South. This is where we always go up north. Come to think of it, we've never been elsewhere in North Luzon except Pampanga for C's. We went to try out Xtremely Xpresso before for their huge pizzas, but during this trip, we tried their other dishes.

After a tiring surfing day in Zambales with Daniel and Cheska, we passed by Subic to eat dinner. Here is what we ate.

 Cool water jug.

Of all their coffee there, I forgot what this was but since we were with Daniel, I'm pretty sure this is the Vietnamese Coffee.

Of course, chuck ordered the baby back ribs.

Hot coffee for the long drive back home

Verdict:
- although we did not put a photo here, their pizzas really taste good.
- other dishes are okay, but best to try out their pizza. especially the Big Ben
- coffee is also good. you wouldn't want to go to Subic and drink Starbucks right? This is your best alternative. :)
