CnT Lechon

CnT Lechon
1377 Rama Ave, Guadalupe, Cebu City
V. Rama Avenue, Guadalupe

Our favorite lechon in Cebu! I don't know about others, but for us, this beats Zubuchon! The skin is crispy and the meat stays true to Cebuano's claim that their lechon doesn't require any sauce! It's better to eat as is!

Here is our before and after lunch at CnT.

Before. I think we ordered 1/2 kilo of lechon. :))

After eating. Happy tummies!!!

You have to try CnT lechon when you go to cebu, It's a must! Your Cebu trip won't be complete without having a meal here! Best to go here and have early lunch so you get to try the best parts with less people!

Verdict:
- Best lechon we've ever tasted!

Fudge

Fudge
888 A.S. Fortuna St.

The second time that ikya went to cebu, she met my cousin Angela. the two are 5 years apart in age, Angela being the elder, but despite the age gap, they share a certain bond which I think will never be erased. SWEETS. surely all the girls you know are sugar lovers, but with these two, it’s different. they actually fb each other about what they just had for dessert. so, with that, you can say that this restaurant started a friendship.

Fudge is a tiny restaurant located just outside the city on a very popular food street in Cebu. if you weren't careful, you'd miss it since its small, but once you've been there, you will never miss it anymore.

This is their menu.

 These are for dessert.

Lava Cake. this is their best seller. it is really really really good. it’s a must try. Testament to this is that one time, while in fudge; I saw a food blogger ordering the cake. Curious, I was just observing what he's reaction would be when he tasted it. He took a picture and dug it. Once in his mouth, I could read his lips saying "ohhhhh myyyyy godddddddd" and I swear it was 10 seconds long. And I’m willing to bet you'd say it just as long when you've tasted it.

Macaroons and white chocolate cookie!

This restaurant doesn't only serve desserts though. they also have food like pasta and sandwiches that’s pretty tasty - but we always pass it up to save more room for dessert.

Chorizo burger! I loved this!

Pesto Pasta - Ikya loves pesto and she loved this version!

Verdict:
- It’s a true to the restaurant name, dessert place. Good for dates and afternoon chill in sessions with the gang
- The price is good. You get what you paid for and more.
- The staff is well mannered and very helpful, especially when they see you confused on what to order.
- Definitely going back.

Cebu Country Club

Cebu Country Club
Banilad Road, Cebu City

Cebu is, if you don't already know, my hometown. Ikya and I go there every so often to visit my parents or to hang out with my friends. The first time she went there, we were not able to go the Cebu Country Club or CCC for short. I, however, am there all the time since I play golf there.

A few months back, I was back in Cebu again so I didn't hesitate on taking her to CCC. Just a word of caution though - I might be a little biased on this blog about the food since I'm a fan, but I will try to be impartial.

Here is what I ordered for the both of us.

Classic Caesar Salad. People, it is what it is. I guess if you add a twist to a classic Caesar salad, it wouldn't be called a classic Caesar salad. The thing that makes a Caesar salad good for us is the balance of the sauce to the dry ingredients. some have too much dressing and others have too many greens. it also depends on your taste, but for us, this was a well-proportioned dish. aside from proportion, the portions were also good.

Sizzling Gambas w/ Spam. This dish is basically what I grew up with. its deveined shrimp with egg, spices, chili, and, wait for it, SPAM! I know, the combination is not what you'd normally go with, but for this dish, it goes really well. the Japanese members made this popular. they made me try it and I was hooked. I guess you can say that they really know their seafood.

Beef Salpicao. ok, by now you are probably thinking that I’d just be posting things I like and not be adventurous. this dish is, by all means, new to me and ikya. this is the first time I ordered it here because it is the first time that the club is offering it. worth a shot? hmmmmm we'd say "steady lang". the sauce was good but the beef was tough. it might have been overcooked or the part was not so soft. it’s just an OK for us.

Verdict:
- Family/golfers type of restaurant
- The price is kind of expensive for Cebu, but their servings justify it.
- We will definitely be going back, its mandatory.
- The service is good as the waiters are very attentive and quick on their feet.

After celebrating my birthday with my family for lunch, I readied my things and went to the airport for Cebu! Fern and I got there earlier than Chuck, who came from a tournament in Davao. Jet-setter ang peg. =)) We picked him in the airport and he told me that we will go to Abaseria first to look for the accessories that I wanted. This was around 9pm at night already, so I objected knowing that his family is waiting for us at his house for us to have dinner to celebrate my birthday. Little did I know, Abaseria, apart from it being an accessories shop is also a restaurant. So our conversation went like this...

ikya: where are we going to have dinner? You pick na coz you know more places here.
chuck: let's go look at your accessories first in Jjay's tita's store then let's decide from there.
ikya: ha? wag na! It's 9pm already and your family is waiting for us to have dinner. I can do it tomorrow or some other day.
chuck: ngayon na. It's closed tomorrow Sunday and Jjay's busy next week.
ikya: edi I'll do it Monday while you have your practice round. Jjay doesn't have to come with me. I can come in as a customer lang. I'll take a cab.
chuck: ehhhh. Now na. It's on the way anyway.
--since it was his turf, I had to obliged even though it sounded so silly.

So I came in Abaseria first knowing that we were only going to look at accessories and I was greeted loudly with a "happy birthday!" Since I was stunned to see them, my instant reaction was to run back and so I did and Chuck stopped me. hahaha

Abaseria is a cute cozy restaurant where intimate parties can be held. It was a perfect place to celebrate my birthday..thanks to chuck. :) It is also well decorated with trinkets.

Nice. :) The best part about this place is that they serve great tasting food! I'm not saying this because I had a great experience here in terms of the surprise, but really their food is yum! Here is what we ate. Don't know their names though. :p

Salad

Pork

Pasta

Chicken eaten with the below

This dish is definitely my favorite. MUST TRY!!!

Fish

Dessert

My cake :)

Cake-blowing! The most embarrassing part of the night. haha

Extra sweetened ice tea "shake"

RECAP!!! With Chuck's mom and the owner of Abaseria. :)

I enjoyed all these with chuck's family and the cebu team. Boo that pictures don't show everyone. You guys know who you are. :)

Verdict:
- Great for casual or even special type of dates. If you want a cozy/homey, this is the place to go
- Price is worth it for the taste of the food.
- Will definitely come back here for the food and hopefully check out their accessories! Never got the chance to do so during my 5 days stay in Cebu! hahaha

And of course.. THANK YOU CHUCK. <3

Goombah

Goombah
Banilad Town Center, 6014 Cebu City, Philippines

https://www.facebook.com/pages/Goombah/226479797378105

ikya was in Cebu for her birthday week and of course we celebrated her birthday everyday and every night. :) During here first night we celebrated the last few hours of her birthday and the salubong for Ado's birthday at Goombah. It was so funny because when we were thinking of a place to drink, the cebu gang suggested this place and everyone was like, "unsa? bumba?" Goombah. :)

It had a very unique concept to it: restaurant/bar/gaming area. They had old school games like pacman! Here's chuck trying to beat ikya's score in pacman =))

We had dinner before going here at Abaseria (wait for our post!), so we didn't order a lot of food. More drinks is more like it. ;) We did order their fried pizza. YUM. It's double unhealthy but it is really good! We can splurge once in awhile ;) Where can I find something like this in Manila?? Any suggestions?

We also ordered these potato thingies. Warning: it's extremely hot so put holes on the potato balls before eating. haha They can improve on the dip though. But potato balls are good! I think we ordered the one with pepperoni inside. :)

On to the drinks. I don't even want to explain every shot we had. haha i don't remember some of the names. These pictures will explain for us.

Boys will never get tired of beer, so Cebu style = red horse.

For the girls....we had THESE!

A shot of cuervo to start the night! The only drink we didn't make ourselves =))

A drink called Blowjob for the obvious reason that you have to drink it with no hands.

I forgot what we called this drink. It's beer in the mug and a shot of something that you drop on the beer and chug!

Potion drink. It's a drink the owner made us try because we were such great customers. It was the first time they released it. Good coz it tasted like medicine. sorry it really did.

Here's our picture with the owner (wearing gray). Thank you for the place and the free drink! until next time! :)
We drank more than the above, but I think everyone was too tipsy to take a picture. Booo.

Here's a picture of the gang. :) Boo to the people who left early!

Verdict:
- Good place to hang out with your friends.
- Love the restaurant and barcade concept
- Will definitely make this a drinking spot when we're in Cebu!

Matias

Matias (Jun Jun and Malou’s)
A.S. Fortuna st. Mandaue City, Cebu

It was the morning after drinking…and we all know how our stomach feels after it has ingested and absorbed every bit of that alcohol. We were really hungry! We called up the group and a unanimous “Matias ta part!” was uttered. So it was settled.

Parking in Matias

Matias is a restaurant that reflects the culture and lifestyle of the Cebuano people - very laid back and relaxed. When you get there, you are greeted by huge plumes of smoke from the coal that brings in the wonderful smell of well-cooked meat. The place seems like it’s right beside the beach especially with the sun burning at us coupled with a light tropical breeze. It was indeed a perfect day for BBQ.

You can order either pork BBQ, chicken, baticolon, atay, or puso matched with none other than puso - rice cooked inside a woven pouch made from coconut leaves.

Here is what we ordered.

You can never say you experienced Cebu without having to go to these types of restaurants – puso and BBQ on the street.

Verdict:
- Gives you the ultimate Cebu vibe
- You will probably order more than you can handle =))
- Great BBQ!

It was ikya’s birthday week and we celebrated it in Cebu! It was hard for us to get alone time because we were always either with my family or with the Cebu group. When we finally got our time alone together, I took her to this restaurant that served great food with reasonable prices. As far as I know, this is one of the locations that are frequented by Cebuanos and by tourists as well.

No problem in locating the restaurant – just look for the long line of people. Parking is not really a problem since their branches are mall-based and also its Cebu so enough said. Check this cute kid we saw playing while his parents were waiting in line. :)

Here's their menu.

When you get in the restaurant, you will immediately feel the warmth of the place. It’s really well decorated and you can tell that the owners went the extra mile to put that personal touch. They have toy planes hanging on the ceiling, U.S. license plate numbers on the walls, etc.

Enough on the vibe and down to business. Here is what we ordered:

For starters we got the Therese’s Pieces - Plump chicken tenderloins, double breaded and fried served with honey mustard. These are chicken tenders that are honest to goodness TRUE chicken tenders -no extenders or other ingredients to make it seem big and full. True to their word, they were really deep fried to golden crispiness. The honey mustard sauce was great too.

For our main course, we got the ever popular Brian’s Ribs. Baked pork ribs with a sweet, tangy piquet sauce served with rice, corn and carrots. Just so you know, the picture below seems a bit too big, it is. These ribs are huge! And for the price, not bad at all. We repeat..NOT BAD AT ALL. They are juicy, meaty, hearty, fall off the bone ribs. They are not the type of ribs that you just eat two and your done. This is the dish you finish by yourself. They are GOOD.

And for dessert we had the Milky way milkshake. Why milkshake for dessert you ask? Well, just check out the size of the glass it’s served in! It is as big as a football, and we are not joking.

To let you see how big it is, we took a picture of it with a normal glass. See the difference?

We kind of wish we were joking though, since we weren’t able to finish. It was that big! But it’s a great tasting milkshake nonetheless. Oh did we mention it had chocolate ice cream inside? :)

P.S. they have a 9’’ burger. Will try this next time!

Verdict:
- Family restaurant
- Food is really cheap when you think of the quality and taste.
- Their service is ok. Not much attention from the staff.
- Will definitely come back when we’re both in Cebu to try other dishes! Burger!!!!
