Bonchon Chicken

Bonchon Chicken
Greenbelt 1
Taft (University Mall)

Chicken craze in Manila!! The chicken is really good, but we prefer the wings. We know you’ve tried it already given the hype it made so these pictures are just to tease your tummies. :)

UM definitely is a safer and brighter place now with all the restaurants that opened. Lucky for DLSU and CSB students!

Verdict:
- It's good but not something we'd crave for. There are other restaurants that serve chicken/buffalo wings with variety in terms of hotness or sweetness level, sauces....
- Crispiness of the chicken is superb. Believe this and the sauce is what makes it a winner!

Marciano's

Marciano's
2/F Greenbelt 3, Ayala Center
Makati City, Metro Manila
Philippines
(02) 729-0467
It was the birthday of Ikya's sister and to celebrate, we ate dinner at Marciano's. The area in Greenbelt 3 is too crowded, but the restaurant looked promising...or so we thought. Let's start with the ones we liked.

 Joey' Tribbiani Meat Lasagna

Goodfellas Mozzarella

And the ones we're not crazy about.

Verdict:
- It's sad this restaurant didn't provide us with a dish that will make us come back

http://ljcrestaurants.com.ph/lorenzos-way/

Chuck's parents were here during the weekend because they had to go to Subic for an auction, so it was food galore for us! They loved the ambiance Lorenzo's Way had so we gave it a shot. Oh, and you might find us arguing about which dishes we liked better. Here is their menu.

And this is what we stuffed ourselves with.

Mediterranean Seafood Soup - this is new in their menu! It's tomato based so Chuck wasn't a fan, but i liked it. :) It could have tasted better if they put more seafood.

Binacalao - Local salted fish slow cooked with tomatoes, potatoes, chickpeas, and black olives prepared the Spanish way

I preferred this over the Callos.

Callos -  Stewed tripe, tomato, chorizo and chickpeas, from Salana restaurant

Chuck preferred this over the Binacalao.

Crispy Baby Squids - Baby squid fried until crispy, served with a sweet chili sauce, from Bistro Remedios

Yum crispy goodness!

Vegetable Au Gratin - another new dish in their menu. Lacked taste for me but serving size is perfect.

Paella Valenciana - Seafood and meat done the classic Spanish way, from Mil Novicientos

One of the best paellas I have ever tasted.

Angus Top Blade Steak

Yummy steak considering the price. The gravy made the dish work.

Salted Egg Crab

Great crab! Sauce could improve though on it's "chilliness".

Lengua Estofada - Tender beef tongue simmered in a wine sauce with mushrooms and olives, served with rice, from Cafe Adriatico

Chuck loves lengua. I hate lengua. Go figure.

U.S. Black Angus Rib Eye Steak al Ajilo - US rib eye pan fried with shitake and button mushrooms sauce

Most expensive dish we bought, but it's really worth it. Steak tastes great with or without the garlic.

Verdict:
- Family/date type of restaurant
- Price is reasonable
- Place provides perfect ambiance
- LJC group did it again! :)

National Sports Grill

National Sports Grill
Level 3, Greenbelt 3, Ayala Center, Makati City, Philippines
Tel: (+632) 7284126
http://www.nsg.ph/

We do not really love watching college basketball games live just because we do not want to squeeze with a lot of people....and watching elsewhere is just so comfortable. During the DLSU and Ateneo fight, we along with our friends decided to watch the game at National Sports Grill. We got great seats inside the restaurant in front of the big projector screen. The only problem is that it was too cold inside!

For starters, we ordered Potato skins - Potato skins filled with cheese, real bacon bits and green onions. Served with ranch dressing and salsa. It looks really good in the picture. Maybe if it were freshly
cooked, it would be really good. But the one we got seemed like it was reheated. Love their sauce!

We also ordered Caesar Caesar Augusta as another starter - Grilled chicken breast on top of romaine lettuce & garlic croutons tossed with our famous Caesar dressing. Garnished with grated parmesan cheese & tomato wedges. Nothing special, but nothing short of goodness. :)

Our friend ordered the San Francisco Burger - On sourdough parmesan bread with lettuce, tomato, pickle chips, cheese, grilled onions & National sauce. He loved every bite of it. Beef is splendid!

Chuck ordered the Karate Chops - Two grilled pork chops marinated in teriyaki sauce. Served with garlic rice, coleslaw, buttered corn, fruit* and BBQ sauce. Healthy option! Chops were soft and easy to chew.

ikya ordered the Chicken Parmesan - Your choice of red or white sauce to top our breaded chicken breast with melted cheese and perfectly cooked penne pasta. Warning: really big serving for this one! Taste of pasta wasn't awesome but when eaten with the chicken, this dish goes up our list! Good for sharing for those who do not eat a lot. Just order an appetizer if unsure. :)

As mentioned, it was really cold, so ikya ordered hot chocolate for her drink. Frothy. :)

Verdict:
- This is our restaurant when we want to watch live streaming of games
- A bit pricey but servings are huge, so we guess that's where they "bawi"
- Would like to give their pizzas a try next time. :)

Cafe Breton

Café Breton, Greenbelt 3
G/F Greenbelt 3, Paseo de Roxas cor. Legaspi St., Ayala Center, Makati City
757-4124 to 25

This is our go to dessert place in Greenbelt. They have yummy crepes! Although this particular branch is full of.....you know girls and their respective white-haired partners, we still enjoy going here because of it's accessibility and ambiance. We recently tried their sandwiches and savory crepes, they too did not disappoint. Parking is easy. Nearest parking space is in Greenbelt 3, near the cinema area.
Now on to our food adventures in Café Breton…….

Let’s do savory dishes first. Our favorite is the Galette Super Complete – ham, eggs, cheese, tomatoes, mushroom, onion. Egg on top makes it perfect.

Galette Rustique – smoked bacon, tomato provencal, mozzarella, egg. The Smoked Bacon in this dish deserves an applause.

Tuna Melt Sandwich – Creamy tuna spread with melted cheese. Go for this if you want the yummy healthy option.

Mozzarella Burger - Juicy all beef burger patty with a mozzarella surprise, served with a side salad.

Sweet treats…
La Pinay – mango, mango ice cream (supposedly vanilla), and chocolate sauce. This is everyone’s favorite crepe here so we decided to try it. No doubt why it’s the best seller in this restaurant!

Chuck and I decided to be adventurous in one of our crepe so we went with PB&J with Coffee Ice Cream. Heaven on earth! Believe us, it will take you to childhood memory lane. Yum!

I was recently introduced to my now favorite Crepe here in Café Breton….Butter and Sugar with Condensed Milk. You might think it’s plain but believe us, this is the best crepe here! You can opt to have fruits with it, but our taste buds are satisfied with just this. Considering that it is the cheapest crepe here, makes it more amazing that it’s our favorite!

Beverages..
We tried their drinks as well. I ordered Café Mocha. Too much froth for me, but taste is good. Best ordered during a rainy day.

Chuck tried their Rootbeer Float. Tasted like a Rootbeer Float. Haha

All enjoyed with my support group.:)

Verdict:
- Dessert place for any type of company.
- Thinking if we can finish their menu in a year. haha
- Price is okay given the serving size and taste.
- Will come back for more crepe because we are addicted to it!
