Makan Makan Asian Food Village

Makan Makan Asian Food Village

Let me start by saying that this place rocks! - If you like Asian food that is. Ikya told me about this, and so we decided to go have a look. It’s located at manila ocean park in Roxas Boulevard. It requires a bit of a walk going inside the building but it’s worth it.

The whole setup is a group of small stalls that serve different dishes from different parts of Asia (Southeast Asia mostly). There’s Malaysian, Singaporean, Hong Kong, Philippines, Thai, and Indonesian. With that I guess you can be guaranteed that it suites our taste of food. The cool thing about it is that you can actually see your food being prepared since the stalls are in the middle of the dining area.

Here is what we ordered.

Char Kway Teow. This is Singaporean flat noodles. It’s cooked with egg, beef, vegetables, and a special sauce that we can't quite get our hands on. It’s delicious. We see this dish being prepared a lot on AFC (Asian Food Channel) it looks so good, and true enough, when we tried it, it was.

Pork Spare Ribs. You can never go wrong with this dish. The ribs were so juicy and soft. The sauce was great. Perfectly cooked. It tastes really authentic. It was a lot for just one order too.

Naan Bread. Ikya likes this a lot. Its flat bread that’s quite oily and soft. It’s a little chewy too. It tastes really good on its own, and if you want something to have along with it, they serve this curry sauce that you dip the bread into. It’s really good.

Steamed Shrimp wraps. Its rice based dough wrapped on shrimp and steamed with a special soy sauce. My comment was that the wrap was too soft and (gooey) but the shrimp and sauce were really good. A very light and tasty dish.

We had this to drink - Milo Dinosaur!

Verdict:
- Go to restaurant if you want to taste most of the Asian dishes!
- My dad loved it here too!
- Price is okay.
- More than anything, we loved how the place is designed. It allows you to go around and order from each "stall"
